VIP stands for Vocabulary, Inference and Prior Knowledge. The sheets focus around a high quality image and enable children to perform high level skills via discussion and writing. Conversation around the image will look at what the child can see, this goes in the vocabulary box, what do they know is happening for sure assesses prior knowledge and what do they think is happening considers inference. The sheets are a great was of assessing prior knowledge before a topic or as an assessment during or after a topic. They can be used during intervention, pre-teaching or as part of the whole class lesson and many learners are likely to find them helpful.
